Every episode of Lock Upp is packed with explosive fights, emotional breakdowns, and friendships that fall apart overnight and while most viewers blame strong personalities or clever gameplay, I cannot help but wonder if there’s another factor that is not getting enough attention.
What if hunger is playing a much bigger role in Lock upp than we realize?
This is purely my observation as a viewer, but I have noticed that whenever contestants are put on survival trays, the atmosphere in Lock upp becomes noticeably more tense. It makes me question whether limited food is pushing contestants closer to their breaking point much faster than we would expect.
Why I Think Survival Trays Matter
Throughout the season, contestants have lost access to regular meals and been placed on survival trays as punishment. I understand why the format exists, it raises the stakes and makes every task more important, But I also wonder whether it affects contestants emotionally…
After all, they’re already dealing with:
- Cameras following them 24/7
- Constant pressure to survive the game
- Mind games and betrayals
- Staying away from family and friends
- Almost no privacy
- Lack of proper sleep
Now add hunger to that environment.
In my opinion, it’s the perfect recipe for emotions to boil over.
I’m not saying hunger is the only reason behind every fight. Lock Upp is filled with strong personalities, existing rivalries, and contestants who know drama often grabs attention.
But I do think hunger could be adding fuel to the fire.
We have all experienced being hangry and missing meals can make anyone more impatient, emotional, and quick to react.
Of course, this is just my theory based on what I’ve observed while watching the show.
Maybe I’m completely wrong.
Maybe the fights would happen regardless of what everyone was eating.
So what do you think?
Am I onto something, or are the fights purely driven by personalities and gameplay? Let me know your thoughts in the comments.
