His father had been diagnosed with pancreatic cancer and successfully fought the disease once. However, the cancer returned during the COVID-19 pandemic. This time, he decided not to undergo treatment again. Instead, he wanted to spend his remaining days peacefully and on his own terms.
Ram Kapoor Reveals His Father’s Final Wish
According to Ram Kapoor, his father called him to share his decision. He no longer wanted to fight the illness. Instead, he asked Ram Kapoor to stay by his side during his final moments. He was not afraid of dying, but he did not want to face death alone.
Looking back, Ram Kapoor said it was one of the hardest conversations of his life. Even so, he chose to respect his father’s wishes and supported his decision.
When his father was admitted to the ICU, doctors were no longer providing active treatment. Ram Kapoor stayed beside him throughout. He held his father’s hand and kept the promise he had made. He also revealed that his father’s final wish was simple, he did not want anyone to cry at his funeral.

Ram Kapoor said the decision had a lasting impact on his family. More than five years later, his relationship with his mother and sister is still strained because of what happened. Despite the pain, he believes his father passed away with dignity, exactly as he had wanted.
